Tape travel mechanism is life of the tape deck and determinates whole sound quality. Good tape transport mechanism is a precondition for a good deck. What is important in improvement of transport mechanism is to ameliorate wow & flutter, but mere betterment of its figure does not bring real reliable mechanism. The reason is that the noxious flutter which should be especially removed among wow & flutter components is measured through a kind of compensation filter in “weighted” terms and that its figure cannot always be exhibited; in other words, you cannot judge good or bad sound only from the specs.

With K-04, the tape transport mechanism has been reviewed from the very beginning not by means of such temporary measure to provide ostensible reduction of wow & flutter with D.D. motor but by means of newly designed robust “G.T. Mould Chassis integrated with Bearing Portion Rustic, sturdy chassis made of thick die-cast zinc alloy is moulded and integrated with 2 pairs of capstan bearings, which assures perfect parallelism, between the shafts of pinch-roller and capstan as well as their strict verticality to the chassis.
